Summerhill Scouts, Shanghai (Run 2)
Summerhill sent out twenty-three intrepid campers to take part in a week-long adventure jam packed with outdoor activities. The campers arrived full of enthusiasm for their time ahead. From rock climbing and zip lining, to taking part in Thai cooking classes, campers immersed themselves in a mixture of team building, adventurous and cultural activities. Campers also had fun playing environmental games as they considered the human impact on the natural world at Doi Inthanon. A key highlight of the trip for the campers, was learning about the plight of Thailand’s elephants. The campers learnt of the moral and immoral ways to treat elephants and then used this knowledge to decide for themselves whether Elephant Retirement Park was a good home for them. Staff were impressed by the high energy and resilience that the group displayed throughout the trip, despite getting soaked in the rain on more than one occasion!
It was an eventful learning experience for us all, and we look forward to welcoming the next batch of fearless Summerhill campers very soon!
