We were delighted to welcome Summerhill Camp for yet another week of exciting activities. We understood that Summerhill wanted to ‘keep nature close to heart and nature conservation closer’, therefore we made it our priority to include a range of environmental activities - two of which focused on elephant welfare.
After learning about the various ways humans can treat animals, we visited the Elephant Nature Park where campers were able to identify whether the elephants were being looked after properly. Campers came to the conclusion that the elephants at this particular park were being cared for in the best way possible!
One of the highlights of the trip was Ziplining. Campers faced their fears of heights and took a leap of faith into the wild forest!
Campers also had the opportunity to take part in Thai cooking and learn about sustainable farming.
Upon a visit to Traidhos Organic Farm, campers learnt about what plants and animals grow and thrive in Thailand's Northern climate. Not only did the children enjoy a highly nutritious meal, but they left with the knowledge of where there food comes from, and the amount of energy needed to produce it.
Campers had just enough energy to fight through their final activity - a hardcore session of Muay Thai! Students learnt about self defence and how to be confident in their actions.
We were proud to leave our first Summer 2018 group of Summerhill campers feeling fearless and ready to embark on life’s true adventures!
