The start of February brought us five days of camping and exploring around North Thailand with Prem Grade 6 on ‘Harmony Camp’. During this week, the campers learnt how to work together, play together and live together, whilst camping outside and braving the cold winter on the mountain!
Our first stop was Doi Inthanon, where we set up our camp, and then the campers cooked their own stir-fried vegetable dinner over gas stoves. The temperatures dropped below 10 degrees at night, but we all kept warm with active games, warm clothing and hot chocolate!
While at Doi Inthanon we explored the biodiversity of the mountain, walked around the summit, and trekked across waterfalls to the Karen village. On the morning of the third day, we packed up our camp and headed to Jae Sorn National Park, with a stop at Lampang to visit the temple and famous bodhi tree.
After a dip in the hot springs, the campers left behind their tents for real beds at the Mae Kampong homestay, and stayed overnight with their host families.
The final day involved a lot of mountain biking, a visit to a solar farm and then the campers returned back home.
