Traidhos Family Camp
After several full-day and half-day family events, Traidhos Camps embarked on a new venture offering a full week-long residential program for parents and children to participate in together. Six families from China came with children between five and ten years of age. Although Typhoon Soudelor tried hard to disrupt our plans, an amazing week was enjoyed by everyone.
With the Traidhos vision, at its heart, the camp provided the opportunity for parents and children to be with each other while being learners, while enjoying activities on and around campus to celebrate the natural world. Each day allowed the parents to participate in adult activities including yoga classes and vegetable carving while their children enjoyed age- appropriate activities including everyday English words, and then there were times for parents and children to learn and play together.
The adults appreciated the balance of family time and adult activities. The foot massage and Thai cooking class were especially enjoyed. It was rewarding to see families cooking together and having fun during the campfire.
Group coordinator Smart concluded that Family Camp was such a huge success for all of the families because everyone was happy. The parents could relax and the children grew in independence while they learned new things.
