Songkran Camp Week 1 and Week 2
Two weeks of English camp brought us learning and excitement. As well as improving the skills of English through fun and interactive lessons and games every morning, the campers visited an insect zoo, created crafts from nature and even made their own candle popcorn! They also had the chance to learn about Thai culture through activities such as umbrella painting. Some of their favourite activities were rock climbing, swimming and attempting to direct a blind robot!
In order to get the campers connecting with the natural surroundings, we thought having an overnight trip at Doi Inthanon, would be ideal. Being able to take in the breathtaking views from Thailand’s highest mountain was a truly refreshing sight. The next activities involved fishing for macroinverterbrates, hiking alongside a cascading waterfall and visiting a local Karen coffee village.
The final night ended with a peaceful reflective evening, where we enjoyed toasted marshmallows, songs and performances. It was the perfect time to talk about some of the highlights of our journey together. The campers all valued the time spent living as a family, playing together as a team, sharing ideas, learning through action and being close to nature. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with this group of campers and hope we get the chance to see them again.
