This year’s summer camp at Traidhos was another great success with fourteen children from around the world coming together for two weeks of fun and laughter. We were joined by three staff members from the Barge Program in Bangkok - Heidi, Tai and Pare - who enjoyed their stay in the north just as much as the campers.
Together the kids explored Thai culture staying overnight in a village home-stay, visiting a local market and during a trip to a craft village where they created beautiful artwork to take home with them. The campers also explored a local farming village by bike to experience northern rural Thai life.
The kids learnt great teamwork skills without even noticing it, whilst playing enjoyable games like The Maze and Raft Building. The campers learnt new skills and burned energy in their sports elective. Most took the tennis elective while the rest leant to play golf at the excellent Traidhos sports academies.
On our organic farm the kids explored sustainable living, making smoothies using a bike-powered blender, and making pizzas in our earthen oven, as well as helping out with farm tasks and learning all about organic farming. Campers got to show off their performance skills at Makampom Community Theater where they took part in a drama and arts workshop culminating in a puppet theater show. The highlight for most however was their zip-wiring adventure where they spent the morning flying through the rainforest canopy in a high-adrenalin adventure. Most found it a little scary but a lot of fun.
Thanks to all the campers for making summer camp so enjoyable - we can’t wait to see you next year!
