Winter English Camp B, January 2020
The second of the English winter camps was a big adventure for the over 20 students that joined us from around China. Aside from morning English lessons, students kayaked in the pool, tested their focus in archery class, admired rock formations and bats in the Chiang Dao caves, and challenged their bravery at the Maekok River Valley obstacle course and high ropes challenge. They used their creative skills to design and paint masks, which most of them wore proudly for the rest of the trip and cooled down from the afternoon sun with homemade ice-cream they made together at Traidhos Cooking Academy. At the farming session, they learnt about rice production and got their feet dirty in the rice paddies planting rice. They explored local culture on a visit to a hill tribe village, where they watched weaving and the traditional Akha dance. Besides these adventures, the students developed their teamworking skills in several fun games and activities we played on campus. Overall, we made some great memories and hope to see all the students back at camps again in the future!
